Anyway, I did my tried and sometimes true method of steel wool and vinegar, but since part of the old finish hadn't been totally removed, it left me with some orange spots that looked like some sort of wild animal.
So then I did a layer of pickled oak stain. And then I dry brushed a medium gray all over...in several coats.
And here she is during her photo shoot last night:
Enjoy!!

Ir looks so smooth! I just want to run my hand over it. :) The color is perfect.
Really pretty Allison!
Love! I could totally use that in my master BR. ;)
I always look forward to your posts! This is no exception!
You'd never know it had such a "spotty" past -- looks beautiful!
Great makeover! Love the grey finish. All your hard work really paid off!
That's very soft and welcoming. You could use that trestle bench anywhere in your house or outside on a nice covered patio. The grey is very nice to look at.
Fabulous my friend, thanks for linking up!

I love trestle tables. Great job!
Wow ~ I love it, Allison! What a great shape the sides have. I love the color you went with. I'm in my grey mood lately. I'm doing two side tables in our guest bedroom with ASCP French Linen.
Wow- it came out beautiful and I love the finish you chose!
