Matching Antique Twin Beds

It was truly love at first sight when I Shayne brought me these matching twin beds. I mean, if you don't love the design of these, get your head checked. Just kidding...but really, don't you love the style?

Dying yet? Sit tight...they are about to get even better.

Shayne sent me this picture as inspiration for the finish and said she wanted the beds "Crusty" looking.

Before I started painting, I took a paint pen by Krylon in gold leaf to go over the pretty details, so that when I distressed the finish, the gold would peak through.

Then I mixed up some DIY chalk paint in a color similar to the inspiration but a bit more blue. I painted 2 coats and then had a lot of fun distressing! I used Jacobean stain to glaze, here is how they ended up. I love my king bed, but if I had room in my guest room for these babies, I'd buy them from Shayne!! Forgive my lack of staging...the hubs was not going to help me haul these inside ;)

Yes ma'am! This is fabulous! Have you had any trouble getting mattresses to fit? That's what always makes me nervous about antique beds.

How exactly can we get this color for our projects at home?

These are amazing! Great job at getting the "crusty" look. I wish I could find some beds like these!

Christine said...

Hi!
Just found you via Pinterest.
I just love those gorgeous curved beds. I would love to find some just like those. I keep finding ones that are tufted, but that doesn't speak to me like these do. Your finish is nice and "crusty," too! I laughed at that, but get it totally!
I hope they went to a great, appreciative home!

I think I just posted my compliments on your Drexel desk. :)
Love them both, so it stands. You do lovely work.
