It came to me like this:
The finish was already starting to come off the top, which made it easy to sand away! After sanding, I used the steel wool/vinegar treatment that I used here. It's a fantastic way to get an aged wood look...and fast! After the vinegar treatment, there was still some spots of orangey finish showing through, so 2 coats of white wash took care of that problem. Here is the finished product!
And here is a bonus redo...I didn't quite get a before picture. This is a gorgeous Hammary table that someone took permanent marker to on the top.
That's all for today...but stay tuned. I'm ramping up again..I've got a garage full!

Allison I love that leafy table, the top is perfectly aged and you did right by painting the base dark, it makes the leg details so much better. Really nice work.
Oh boy, seeing that table with barley twist legs makes me wish we'd kept our dining table/6 chairs. We had table just like it, no wheels on it. Was in really good shape and I'd recovered the chair seats.
Only thing was the seats on chairs were kinda small depending on size of your caboose. We had to leave the dining set behind when we left MT. A neighbor was supposed to sell if for us and send money. Yeah right. Hope she either enjoyed the set or the money.

I did the same table with an identical whitewashed top like you but a distressed cream bottom! x
I love both tables. They turned out really nice. I like the distressed look. I have used the vinegar and steel wool before. It works great for aging wood.

Both of those tables turned out awesome! I really like that weathered finish on top.
