Repurposed End Table from the 70's

I recently bought a set of 3 end tables. Two were identical and one was part of the set, complimenting the others. I recently finished the identical pair like this:

So when it came time to paint the 3rd one, I thought I'd try a darker wax over the same paint.

FAIL. You can't see how bad it is from this picture, but trust me.

It was so bad. And I didn't feel like stripping the top. Call it laziness, whatever...but I'd seen this idea on Pinterest:

So I unscrewed the top and went to town. I totally changed up the color, bought a dog bed and finished it up today!

Zelo sniffed it out, but her 60 lbs wouldn't fit in there...and she knew it. It was fun to do something a little different than my norm. Hope you enjoyed it!

Turned out great! You could even personalize the back panel with a framed picture or name-plate.

I see these all the time at our ReStore. I made one from an upside down end table for a friend with a dog so hubby would never let me get away with one like this too since we don't even own a dog!

Outstanding! I love to watch you make something drab go to something cool. I have what is probably an elementary question but painting something a light color and then waxing it with a dark colored wax gives it that antique look?

Love the dog bed

It turned out so well! It's perfect for a pampered pooch. I was laughing that your dog wouldn't even fit in it- ha! Jen

Brilliant solution! The last pic of the disappointed dog is the best. I can see the caption...."is this your way of telling me we're getting another' dog?"

Great job! Love the creativity....if I thought it would work I would so run out today and buy a old table. Hubby and I sleep on a sliver of bed, or 12 lb baby dog sleeps on the rest of the queen bed! Thanks for sharing.

Love it! I had the same dog bed/table pinned... and I have been on the lookout for one of those tables ever since. What a great find and fantastic transformation! :)
