I fell in love with this cabinet at a yard sale a few weeks ago and had to have it. I posted this picture on Facebook last week, asking people what they would use it as in their home. People came up with game storage, craft storage, liquor cabinet/bar. My favorite was someone who said "Just put a bottle of Merlot on it. That's all it needs". Love it!
I got a lot of great answers and ideas. And then I got to work.
I wish I could keep this, but she'll be for sale at Carver Junk Company starting this week. And I don't think she'll last long!

hi Allison, this is such a special find - i think it was probably a music cabinet at some point. so gorgeous. I love how you have painted it and I'm sure it's probably already sold by now! Love the Merlot comment also. If you have time will you link up to Paint Parade?

This is identical to one I have. Its a radio cabinet. Back before the days of tv radios used to be huge and were made to be a prime piece of furniture in the home.
I bought mine from a guy here in St. Louis that builds and repairs old radios. Sometimes he gets one whose electronic parts can't be rebuilt. If that's the case ge "guts' them and saves any usable radio parts and then sells the old cabinets. Your shelves that didn't match the exterior are the dead giveaway that this was something that someone added
shelves to later on.
I have mine sitting in my dining room holding my black and white patterned dishes.
