I picked up this beast off of Craigslist. It was listed as "Shabby Sheek Buffet". Really. I mean, if you are going to sell something on Craig, please, PLEASE spell things correctly. I've seen every version of chic on Craigslist: sheek, cheek, chick, shiek. It drives me NUTS.
Anyway, here is how he came to me. He's massive.
The veneer had been pulled off both doors and there were huge divots out of the wood. My father in law sanded those down and filled in the larger holes. The middle section had a door at one point, but it was missing when it came to me. I turned this from "sheek" to distinguished.
I second guessed myself a lot when painting this one. Should I leave the drawers wood? Huge thank you to Kirsten from White Butterfly Furniture for putting up with all of my questions and texts. I'm really happy with how it turned out. He will be at Carver Junk Company this Saturday!

My New Favorite Product: Hemp Oil
This dresser was brought to me by a neighbor. It had been her mother-in-law's and she wanted it updated for her son's big boy room.
She wanted white and wood/two tone contrast and had fabulous pulls picked out by a seller on Etsy.
The wood on the drawers was in great condition but was dried out. Carver Junk Company recently became a retailer for Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint and they also sell hemp oil. I will admit that I was skeptical about how it would work, but man, it makes both wood and paint look SO rich and pretty. I am 100% sold on it. I used Hemp Oil on the drawer fronts and a white paint on the body. Minimal distressing and gorgeous new pulls equal one happy customer!
Have you used Hemp Oil? Did you love it too?

I took this picture without the drawers as a last minute thought

Two Tone Student Desk for Charity
Well, it's April friends. Which means my garage is FULL and keeps getting fuller because it's garage sale season! Can I get an "amen"??
I found this small student desk at Value Village recently and knew it would be a great piece for the preschool fundraiser coming up.
I forgot to take a before pic, but it was very similar to this...just smaller:
I painted the body a very light gray and refinished the top. The hardware is from Hobby Lobby and is perfect for this piece!
Off to Carver Junk Company and proceeds to the fabulous preschool that has cared for my kids for 8 years!

Dresser in Miss Mustard Seed's Dried Lavender and Tufted Balloon Chairs
Confession time:
Recently, I stopped at the same Goodwill twice in one day. Yep. I did. I found a sewing table on my morning visit and these on my afternoon visit. You can judge me, but you'll also be jealous!
Last night I finished up this dresser in milk paint. I have to say, the first time I tried milk paint, I was so-so about it. The second time, I liked it more. And this go around, I loved using it.
This is the Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint color of the month "Dried Lavender". It's a little to bright for me so I used her antiquing wax and absolutely love the color. More than I thought I would!!
Have you used Milk Paint? What are your thoughts?
This piece, and the chairs, will be available at Carver Junk Company during their April sale!
