I'm not sure why, but I don't like blonde furniture at all. I never have. But when I saw this piece on Craigslist, I had to have it even though it's more than I usually spend. I could justify it because it's going in our bedroom....and now I'm sure it's worth it.
I had to strip the top...three times. THREE. But it was so worth it. I used Dark Walnut by Minwax on the top and it turned out much differently than it usually does. And I love it. For the body, I used General Finishes Milk Paint in Antique White. It's a great white that's not too bright and not too yellow.
Can you even handle how pretty this wood is?!
It even came with a serpentine piece of glass to protect the top. I'll need to get pics of this when it's in our room. I'm so in love!

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I had a 'blonde' piece awhile back and when I stripped the top it looked gorgeous...but after I applied the stain, it looked very splotchy. Just wondering if you had the same thing happen and if that's why you had to strip the top 3 times? Whatever you did, it turned out fabulously!
