Forgive Me.....

For I have sinned in the furniture world.

I painted a perfectly good campaign style table. I was trying to update it, but I think I cheapened it. But you can be the judge.

I got the table on the left for $12.99 at a thrift shop. More than I usually pay, but I had really wanted to do a campaign piece and hadn't found one until this.

I had in mind a classy blue...to make a statement piece. But when you have three boys (ages 5.5, 4, and 23m) at the hardware store with you, your brain can freeze while trying to corral them. Been there? Done that? Yeah...not fun. Here's what we ended up with..blue gloss paint and sprayed silver hardware.

I staged it in a few different spots in my house, and usually I can tell by my pictures, whether blogland will like it or not. I think I should've gone classy with black...what say you?

  2. I like the blue color. I can see this in the corner of a room in Country Living magazine. I like it a lot! Nice work. P.S. One 5 yr. old in a hardware store can be tough, never mind 3!!! Bless you! :)Alyssa of Boston Bee

  4. I'm liking it too. I see it holding a bunch of potted plants....some trailing. Can't even imagine trying to paint furniture w/ 3 little ones running around. My 3 are not so little anymore but I remember those days well.

  5. I am a blue fanatic, so I love it. If anything I would light distress it, but that's me, I like things to look a bit weathered.

  6. I think it makes a statement. I especially like the photo with the vase and art on it. It looks great!

  7. It turned out too cute! The blue definitely brightens it up! Add a few plants, art, maybe in a corner with some sunshine...perfect! (but that's just my opinion!)

  8. Very nice color! I think when working on a small piece you can go a little brighter. This is a fun pop of color.

  11. ok, i am going to be totally honest. i love love love the blue, but i think with this style i really prefer the more stately brass pulls. i think they would have popped against the blue nicely, too. like i said, love the color, but just prefer the brass.

  12. I think it looks bright and happy! And it's just paint, so you can always change it!

  13. I'm kind of in love with blue right now so I really do love the color. Good thing is, it's just paint and easy to redo if you don't like it.;)

  19. That table is such a cute shape and I think it is small enough that the bright blue adds the perfect pop of color. The color might be overwhelming in large doses, but it's just perfect on that cute table.

  20. It really pops out in the blue color. And you can always paint it another color later if it doesn't grow on you. I'm such a dork that I had to Google "campaign furniture" to see what you were talking about. I guess I never knew what that look was called.

  24. I love bold colors--I say you made the right choice! I just picked one of these up for $5 at a flea market and will reveal my makeover soon!

  25. Such a nice piece. Love the blue but I'm bias, I find all shades of blue appealing. Does it go with the rest of your decor? If not, you can always repaint it.

  26. I think the blue looks lovely! I can see it with white bottles, books or canvas pieces or white accents on top of it. Or maybe some drinks? Is that what it's for? :) It looks great, Allison!

  31. Okay I had to educate myself......why is it called campaign? Now that I have the answer I can leave an educated comment :) You didn't cheapen it at all. The blue is chic and stylish it would make for a very nice pop of color in any room.

  32. I think you made it fabulous! I actually saw a campaign dresser on another blog in the same color. It looks like something you'd see in Z Gallerie! Just add some glossy white accessories :) awesome!
