Birthday Buffet

I flew to Chicago on Friday afternoon to celebrate my sister's birthday. We had planned on thrifting a little bit on Saturday and maybe painting a chair for her desk. I am dying over the Brown Elephant Thrift Store in Andersonville. It had the.most.amazing furniture EVAH! I might even fly down this summer, rent a U-Haul and drive back! Can anyone say obsessed? That's me!

Anyhoo, we ended up bringing this home:

and doing this to it:

It totally goes with her decor, and now it's where her TV sits~

I posted here about the chair, piano bench turned coffee table and telephone table turned nightstand. I'm loving the way her place has turned out!

And now I'm STILL in Chicago...my flight got cancelled because of the snow in MN. I am loving spending time here, but I miss my boys! Hmmm...maybe another thrift store trip would make me feel better?

Friday Flip!

Happy Friday, Dear Readers!

Today I have a real treat for you! A blog swap with Camilla from Rosy Red Buttons! She has a fabulous blog that chronicles her photography biz and super cute, crafty items for her home. She's been featured numerous times, so go check her out after reading all about her below!

_______________________________________________________________

Hello Fab Rehab Friends! My name is Camilla and I am so excited to be here! Allison is such a sweet person and I am so glad she is letting me take over her blog today! (hopefully she feels the same...;) ) Here goes! I am married to the greatest man EVER (I know you'll probably throw in the vote for your husband, but its just not true) ;) and we welcomed our first child, a girl into our lives on January 20th. We just can't seem to get enough of her. I take pictures as a profession. And yes, my poor daughter has already been subjected to countless photo shoots in her short three weeks of life. My husband digs in the dirt for his profession. Seriously. They even pay him for it. :) I have a little blog called Rosy Red Buttons that I started in Septemberish and it has been all kinds of fun to do. I started it just because I was going to be doing so many remodels and projects in preperation for our little girl.
I also enjoy decorating and then re-decorating my house, so some of my projects involve that. I recently finished the master bedroom with all the furnishing and decor I wanted and said to my hubby, "Look it's finally finished!" He looked back at me and said, "We'll see." It has sat for 3 months relatively untouched, so I'm pretty happy about that. He is too. Here are some of my favorite projects from this year:

Ruffled Mobile. I'm super particular about all the colors and patterns in the nursery, so I had to make my own. :)

Personal Picture Clocks. These were so fun to make and they are excellent anniversary, wedding, christmas, birthday, you name it gifts!

Nursery Makeover! Ok, I realize that most of my projects involve baby-ness, but I can't help myself. I love that she's here to fill up this sweet space!

Nursery Furniture Makeover. Oh boy were these ugly before.

Ruffled Table Runner. Yea, I'm kindof obsessed with ruffles. These can be made as short or long as you need!

Custom Canvas Frames. I smile everytime I see it on my staircase.

I think that is enough to be sufficient for you. Um, did that sentence even make sense? Probably not. I'd love to meet you and see your fun ideas and blogs and have you follow along in my attempts to be a first time parent while crafting. Uh Yikes. Come by and see me at Rosy Red Buttons! Thanks again Allison for having me over. You rock! Have a great day!!

Thank YOU, Camilla! Hop on over, check out her blog and follow along...you won't be sorry!

I'm in love!

I know...I know. I've said it about other pieces but this truly is my favorite piece so far.

I picked up this beaute off of Craigslist for $25, which was a steal! I searched and searched for a dresser just like this at the right price! Jackpot!

I posted about this dresser here and I originally thought that two tone was the way to go...dark walnut top with a creamy white, distressed base. But it was not to be. There were three holes in the top where a mirror once sat and a few major dings that would've caused me to sand through the veneer. I was bummed, but then I had a vision....I would use this piece as an inspiration for my mom cave (that I'm s-l-o-w-l-y putting together).

Here is what I came up with:

And staged in a better area...the room she's going to live in is currently a HIDEOUS blue and would not bring out her true beauty:

The large drawers have pulls from Home Goods. The small drawers retained the original pulls:

And because I'm so smitten, a few parting shots. This piece is certainly staying with me...she's the inspiration for my mom cave...and now I'm REALLY motivated to make progress on that room!

Thanks for making it through this long post!
