Thrifting Fun, A Sneak Peak, and a Coupon for YOU!

Fellow thrifters and furniture hoarders UNITE! Three topics will be covered tonight...

Here are 2 tables I picked up this week...cannot wait to get my hands on them. But it may be awhile...I have a lot of fun projects coming up!
Photobucket

The one on the left...a Thomasville game table in near perfect condition, was $13. I'm not huge into game tables, but if it was painted, would this not be perfect for a large entry way OR small dining space for 2?? The possibilities!

The other was $10..I love the structure of it. Any ideas for color on this one? Leave the top wood?

And look at this picture frame turned tray!

Something really drew me to this! For a $1.99, I bought it!

Next up, a sneak peak at what I've been working on:

A gorgeous, antique pedestal dining table with FOUR leaves. Can you stand it?! It is SO well made and you.will.die when you see the color I'm working with. Die!

Lastly, click here to print a coupon for a free sample of Benjamin Moore. It's one of the small samples, but free paint is free paint, yo!

Enjoy it!

My First Sign...in Chevron: A Tutorial and Giveaway

I was visiting my sister in Chicago 2 weeks ago and she had an amazing piece of Subway art that I fell in love with because of the quote. I love subway art, but have no idea how to create it easily, so I went with Plan B.

I picked up a wooden plaque at Goodwill for $1.99. It wasn't new, but it had never been painted or stained. I used DecoArt Poodle Skirt Pink for the base. Then I used my zig zag/chevron painter's tape. What? You've not heard of patterned painters tape?? Well read on sistahs...I'm giving away a few rolls at the end of this entry!!
Photobucket

I wanted to use this tape on furniture...I was dying to do a chevron piece, but it's too small...it just doesn't look right. But for a sign, it was perfect. I did three rows of tape and painted DecoArt Slate Gray over everything. I love the way pink and gray shine together!

Next, I printed out the quote with Microsoft Word (I know...I'm fancy, huh?) in 130 font. I used a pen to trace the letters (over the paper) on the board. By applying a lot of pressure, it made indentations on the board enough for me to then trace with a paint pen.

Here it is...my favorite quote ever!

What a perfect motto for teen girls and women everywhere!

Ok, quickly...on to the giveaway. This patterned tape canNOT be found in stores or online. I found some at a yard sale last summer. I found out the name by searching google (Agapo Tape). I contacted the owner, who, although she doesn't do retail any more, she sent me a box of tape to give away! I'm going to pick four winners....one roll each! There's rick-rack, chevron/zig zag, faux bamboo and one more I can't remember. Please be a follower and leave a comment telling me you are AND what you'd use the tape for! Giveaway will end Tuesday, September 20th at noon! Good luck!
Thanks for stopping by!

A Girly Nighstand and a Kindergartner

Wheeee! It has been a nutty week...my oldest got off to Kindergarten without any major glitches. I went to Chicago last weekend for a getaway to see my sister...shopping, sleeping and not little ones crawling on me was just what this girl needed!

First, a few pictures of my big guy!

Next up is this sweet nightstand that I got for $7.99 at Value Village. A friend of mine was in the process of transition her beautiful 3 year old into her big girl room and this table NEEDED to be girly!

Those curves and lines!

We talked colors and came up with this!

The handle was painted to match the madras bedding from Potter Barn Kids that will be on the big girl bed. I love it...but I love anything girly that I do. My life is testosterone central after having 3 boys...so this was a fun project.
