They are Lane brand and SO heavy...but dark and looming. I think the style is Mediterranean or Spanish? You furniture gurus can let me know ;)
This is how they ended up...and you all will be PROUD! I tried regular glaze! I almost always glaze with stain. I tried glazing with Behr glaze last fall, and I didn't like it at all. But this experience was much better! I'm still not sure I love the nightstands, but I think they look far more inviting now!
Do you like this style of furniture?

So funny - my parents have had something similar in their bedroom for all of my 36 years too! I don't love the style, until it's painted and glazed and then I think it's really pretty. I have a furniture linky party every Thursday and would love to have you join in!
those look so pretty! i love how the details really show up now and are so much softer and prettier. :)
I think they turned out very nice. I haven't stained/glazed at all over paint, but it's on my list of things to learn to do. Thanks for the peek at your project; they turned out GREAT!

What a great transformation! You really brought out the details, but in a soft quiet way. Now they don't look so big, brown and ominous!
Great job! Really brings out their lovely details.
I love the new look you've given to this furniture; looks updated french-style!
Alison, you've just given them another 36 years to live! Much better look not as clumsy and clunky. Have a great long weekend :)
Gorgeous after...so ugly before! what a transformation!

I love that the detail just pops. I think they are beautiful!
Love these! Truly transformed and for the better, you clever woman. Just a note, but these are perfect for a black and white Halloween display, don't you think?
These look great! If they are still ominous because you've "known" them all your life, then someone would probably be happy to buy them from you. Came over via I heart naptime.
I like them. I've been wanting to paint something with all that 'carvy' stuff on them.
They look great. This style furniture is always tops on my favorite makeovers list. It is just such a huge difference between the before and after. Beautiful work as always!
When I look at your final results, it makes me ill to think of all the pieces I've practically given away at garage sales. I wish I could have them all back & do this to them. Wah!
These turned out GREAT! They remind me if the Cedar Chest I have fir sale right now - same floral design. Nice work!
You are so amazing at transforming things. This is the second thing I have checked out on here tonight! You must have great style! I'd love for you to share this as well!

Great transformation, love the color!
Didn't love them before...but, I adore them now! Beautiful job on their redo! Found you via The Shabby Creek Cottage. Toodles, Kathryn http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/2011/08/little-goodwill-finds.html
GORGEOUS re-do! I need lessons in glazing...siiigh...my glazed pieces seem to come out just looking DIRTY! What kind of glaze did you use?

It's a total change and I love it! Will you keep them or try to sell them? I think they would sell fast! That style is very in right now. Great re-do!
These are great, Allison.
Turned out great!! They look wonderful but no they are not my style of furniture. Thanks for linking up!
I didn't like this style until I came across your redo. Looks fabulous!! I'll have to pay more attention at garage sales now instead of passing up items like this. :-)
wow! who knew that furniture like this would look so good in white. i don't know how many times i've walked past stuff like this at yard sales without a second look. you've opened my eyes to other possibilities. thanks!
