The rush seat was in rough shape, so I called up my fearless father-in-law and asked him to cut a new seat from wood so I could upholster it. He dropped it off the next day. I seriously heart him...I'm rarely in a hurry for the items I ask for help with, but he's always super quick!
I was all set to paint this chair turquoise with a fun fabric when I totally changed my mind. I used my sample from Valspar (remember the free paint samples they gave away last year?) in Fabulous Red and glazed it. Then I used some ticking stripe fabric that I found at the thrift shop for $1.59. And now I have this...extra holiday seating that can be used year round!
Did a dog get to this first? No problem...I was going for the aged look anyway!
Is it my best redo? Probably not...but for $1.59 total, it works!

What a great trash to treasure! The pillow is the perfect compliment for the corner chair.

Visiting from Miss Mustard Seed. My favorite thing about your post was the "free" sign on the chair (oh....and that adorable pillow)!
$1.59 well spent! If you ever decide to redo the chair again, wood putty is really easy to work with .... you can fill in the spot on the arm with little effort. Love the red and the fabric too!

Can't beat a free chair! Love it!
This looks great! I have a chair that is almost identical in shape that I just refreshed as well. Love that yours was free to begin with.
