Back to Basics

Here is a sweet table that had an aged oak finish...and not in a good way. I sanded it down, painted it white, distressed it and glazed with dark walnut stain. My signature finish.

Here is another table with no "before" photo...I love it in person, but it doesn't photograph very well. I got this from my awesome neighbors who said "Hey, we just cleaned out my mom's garage and thought of you!". Seriously awesome! Thanks Jon and Patti!

I sprayed this one in Stone Gray and glazed with Jacobean stain.

And then there's this guy....graduating Kindergarten this week. Where does time go? Excuse my hair. It never behaves.

They're lovely! What stain do you use and how to you apply it and take it off please?

Looks like we have the same obsession. I love the dark stain over the cream paint. Will be "borrowing" this idea for my next project.

Your hair looks lovely. I am also wondering how you apply your stain... do you put it directly on and then rub off; or do you mix the wood stain with a clear glaze and apply it that way?

Thx!

When I saw the first table shown, my eyes popped. I've held onto an old table I found at a yard sale for about 10 years, it's in the basement. I keep saying I'm going to refinish it. My old table is exactly the same as this one minus the drawer. Thank you for sharing this with us! And congratulations to Jackson and you, yes, they do grow up very, very fast.
