My Winter Wreath with Styrofoam and Canvas Corporation

This was my inspiration from Midwest Living magazine. I loved the thought of using a cable knit sweater...it adds so much texture and just reminds me of winter.

But having a red door didn't allow for the pink wreath.

So I hit GW and found a cream cable knit sweater that would be perfect. I'd won a bunch of styrofoam back in July from the DIY club contest. If you've never entered, you SHOULD. Amazing, amazing prizes! Anyhoo...

I cut off the sleeves of the sweaters and opened them up by cutting down the seam. I wrapped them around the styrofoam wreath and glued them down. Then I cut part of a different cable knit pattern and wrapped it around the bottom to conceal where the arms met.

Then I used a small stretched burlap square from Canvas Corp and stuck a felt "B" sticker in the middle....because I'm obsessed with initials and monograms. I think a snowflake would look great too! I attached some jute with a tack and hung it in the middle of the wreath.

And here it hangs today. I'm really happy with it considering I'm not super crafty!

If you notice above, I've finally succumbed to Pinterest and oh.em.gee...what a time suck. But I'm loving it....it's making me a crazed thrifter. Seriously...it's a little outta hand. AND, I started a Facebook page last night. I'm not sure what's gotten into me. I can't figure out how to get the FB icon on my blog though...so you're safe for now ;) Stay tuned for more fun!

Very nice! I like that it is something that can be used well beyond the holiday season. Your's is MUCH better than the pink version IMHO... but then again I've never been such a fan of pink :-)
