Simple, Rustic Mantle Art

I struggle so much with putting a mantle together because ours is so narrow., but when I found this crate for $1.00 a few weeks ago, I thought it might help me create the look I want.

I took a thrifted, oval frame and tossed the glass. I dry brushed white on it and sealed it with wax. Then I took a letter B that I had from my son's nursery and I sprayed it black. With the help of Gorilla Glue, I now have this on my mantle.

And here are the other items I recently picked up from yard sales and thrift shops!

I was drawn to this for some reason.

And the whole thing put together (I splurged on the ampersand at Target):

Love what you did with the crate! I want one for my own, but with the letter Z. :) What a bargain on the cute clock, too!

All the elements put together look really nice, and I love the crate, very simple, plain colors and very elegant. Thank you for sharing.

Gorgeous! We have a real stone fireplace so I always like looking at mantels that are stone instead of painted.

Everything looks so lovely together!

Do you have any pictures on your blog of your mantel/fireplace from farther away? I'd love to see the whole thing.

Came over from The Feathered Nest to see your mantel. You are the primitive princess - I love the rich texture of the pieces you chose!

I love this look but just for kicks, group them all together closer in the middle and add some books under the clock for lift...it looks great but will be awesome done this other way!

Great repurposed artwork! I also have a narrow mantel, so I know how hard it is to accessorize. In fact, I have nothing but an old clock on it right now. Shame on me! I love your idea.
