I went out and bought myself a brand spankin' new orbital sander. WHAT was I waiting for?? I am in love with it...it goes sooo much faster than using a sanding block. Duh, right? So I sanded this piece down, primed with Benjamin Moore Fresh Start high adhesion primer and then painted several coats of a creamy white. I glazed with ebony stain and now I think it looks so fresh and classy! 
So there ya go! What do you think?

This turned out wonderful! It really gives me hope because I picked up this particle board filing cabinet the other day because it had a unique shape. I was getting worried but this made me feel a lot better!

I'm so happy you bought a sander!!! It's amazing you don't really think about it until you get a power tool. My next purchase is going to be a paint sprayer, I can't wait. This piece looks awesome, great job Allison!! :)

I HATE particle board...just refurbed a table made of it and it did not want to work with me lol. I eventually got it finished, but it took some doin...urs looks great!!
Great Post! If you see the process of manufacturing particleboards, was developed to make use of wood processing waste. Planer shavings and sawmill slabwood, offcuts and sawdust are still used in some specific board types.
