Book Nook *Reveal*

Can you say FINALLY?
Goodness, I've been working on this for awhile.

It all started with a crib mattress repurposed into a kids' daybed. You can see that post here. This post has gotten the most traffic of any other post on my blog...I'm kinda blown away!

Because the daybed fit so perfectly in this space, I knew I had to make it into a reading nook for the boys. This space is in the large bedroom that the 2 older boys (ages 6.5 and 5) share.

So with a little help from my father-in-law, I turned it into this:

The entire project cost less than $100 (cost breakdown is below)!

Thrifted letters that I sprayed with ORB

Corner pillow from GW (new with tags) and shower curtain used as a mattress cover

Wall book storage (thank you FIL!) made from plans I found here

Floor pillow (NWT from GW)

Cost breakdown:

Lumber for Daybed: $40
Spray paint for daybed: $5
Crib mattress: Free ...we were about to get rid of it
Curtains: Free as I already had them in that space, I just moved them
Letters: $2.50 @ thrift shop
Pillows: $11.98
Shower curtain turned into mattress cover: $3.99 @ GW (new in package)
Lumber for bookshelf: $15

Total: $78.47

Moral of the story? Don't toss that used crib mattress just yet! And if you already did, cruise Craigs List...I see them there for free all.the.time!
