I'm kicking myself because I think I deleted the before photo of this piece. It came to me in a mahogany wood with a very old finish. Shayne wanted it in a "crusted out" finish. After painting it white, I used two different waxes and a heat gun to achieve this finish.
Allison hi! I found you through the blog hop and I'm very glad I did! Both our blogs have the same topic that I enjoy reading. So I'm now happily following! Would love to see you over at my place too! Love, Olga www.stardust-decorstyle.blogspot.com

Looks great! I forgot about the magic of a heat gun! I loaned mine to a client eons ago.....I think it is time to get a new one!
I've never heard of using a heat gun, but I'm loving the look it gave. Where do you buy one?
The shelf looks awesome. Great job!

Interesting. What's it like working with a heat gun? I would probably have set it on fire, given my track record.
The shelf is very cute -- looks like a very useful size, too.

That heat gun is a nifty little tool! Love the crusty look you achieved! And thanks for joining the party!
i don't even own a heat gun... i think i am going to add it to my list of necessary power tools! this looks very cool!
I'm another reader who had not heard of using a heat gun to achieve a distressed finish - great tip!
Your shelf looks fantastic!

I thought I'd used everything out there to age paint but the heat gun is new to me. Thanks! ~ Maureen
Very cool! Love the finish on it. Not something you see every day!
