Back in November of last year, I told you about how to age wood quickly using steel wool and vinegar. You can see that project and tutorial here. The mixture actually creates a type of stain that makes wood look really old and weathered.
After stripping the top of this table using Citrustrip, I put three coats of the steel wool and vinegar mix on, sanding in between with a fine sanding pad. That takes care of any inconsistencies that look like water marks after using the vinegar.
I then painted the bottom with white, distressed and glazed with Minwax Jacobean. I usually use dark walnut, but I am LOVING this as glaze!
As a side note, PLEASE make sure you have your email address in your blogger profile. I get some really great questions that I want to answer, but when I hit "reply", the message will be sent to "firstname.lastname@example.org". I respond to any questions that are asked :)
Have a great weekend!
